Surgery

Well, 10 days later and he is already complaining about the immobilizer.  The incision is larger than expected, they cut through the muscles and separated the bones.  Cadaver tissue inserted and now the healing begins.  The "simple" exercises are more than he thought but looking forward to 2015  :-)

Tomorrow is the day

Jeff will be in surgery around 11:30 am Wednesday.  It depends on how the grafting of the donated bone goes on how long the surgery will take.  We both are looking forward to this nightmare year coming to an end and have sights on the new year.  Hefty goals for the first of June but I know Jeff will bounce back.  It is now all in God and the surgeon's hands.

Thanks for Thoughts and Prayers

Jeff and I want to thank everybody for their thoughts and prayers this last week.  Although the Miami County Sheriff's office has gone above and beyond, so far we are unable to find the "linebacker" with 4 legs.  A couple of the residents along Gingham Frederick Road have also done everything to help identify the dog.  We are hoping the Deputy can visit two more homes that have very large dogs registered.
The 2 breaks in the collarbone are giving him less pain than the hip and groin.  Hopefully the Dr will order more x-rays Monday morning on that area to make sure nothing else is broken/cracked/fractured.
The handle bar in the back seems to be healing nicely.  I didn't take an original photo ... didn't think anybody wanted to see "raw meat".  Of course, lots of bruises and road rash that will heal.
Obviously he is done riding and running for the year.  Right now he seems to be handling that ok, but then again ...... he is on pain killers.
He is thrilled that the new bike sustain minimal damage.  I can laugh about it now, but apparently he kept asking the EMS in the ambulance how was his bike.
Thanks for all that have called and talked to him and me.  He has loved the encouraging words that have been said.

Can Ya Hear Me Now

Anybody that knows Jeff knows he had a hearing problem (along with memory).  We researched and he visited a couple of companies.  The last one was WONDERFUL!  He has had the hearing aids since Monday and what a difference in not only his humor but me not yelling to tell him something.  It will take some time to get use to them but I have to say he is giving it everything he has.  It is amazing the things that he hears now that he hasn't heard in year.
I can say "I love you" and not yell - what a bonus :-)

Riding To Work

Jeff hasn't traveled by bike to work since he was hit years ago.  Today he ventured out with me protesting but made it safely to and from work.  Now preparing for the two year delayed birthday ride.  Excited that he will share this ride with great friends.  All I can say is "Lordy Lordy He Ain't Forty" :-)

Friday

Jeff has always taken the Friday off before Milton Triathlon.  This year will be a little different - the flooring and cabinets arrived a day early - so Friday will be re-arranged to accommodate the installers.  AJ is set up on a trainer in the driveway just in case of rain.  This will be followed by a nice long run with his PoPo.  Later in the afternoon we will pick out the new "industrial" fan to replace the one in the kitchen .... dinner out and then up early to photograph the Milton Tri.  Although Jeff is competing, we are committed to helping.

This will be a long 6 weeks

The first team showed up bright and early this morning at 7:30.  They started the removal of the kitchen, floor and appliances.  The two men were the hardest workers I have ever seen.  I was bragging about throwing put 25 years with of "stuff" since we have lived in the house.  They looked at the family room and just stared at me.  I had to assure them we threw out a lot of junk.

Tomorrow the plumber and electrician will be here. Running new lines and making more holes in the walls.  Hopefully the cats will deal better with less noise.  The cabinets and floor are scheduled to be delivered on Friday.  We already have the new appliances so hopefully Monday morning they will start the installation.
