A Little Brian Time

Since Brian isn't on Facebook .....  We had a great evening with Brian.  Always lots of laughs, too much food and not enough drinks.  Happy he was able to get in a little riding while home for Christmas.  Sad the weather turned and we didn't get to ride outside together.  When we come back to NYC we will bring our bikes!

Thanks for taking time to see us and hope to see you this summer.

New Bike

Jeff picked up his new bike on Wednesday - he was like a little kid in a candy/toy store.  Now to get it set up to fit him, :-)

Jeff's New Bike

After ALL of these years, Jeff is finally getting a bike he has always wanted.  He has found a Litespeed Ti6/4 with Campy Record Groupo components.  Should have it in about two weeks and I get a road trip out the whole deal!

Sunshine/Full Moon/Rainbow Day

I haven't been able to be on the bike in a long time.  Today was the day.  I probably rode a little further than I should have - ran out of water, etc.  BUT, the freedom I felt on the bike is wrapped up into the sunshine/full moon/beautiful rainbow feeling.

Vacation

We started our "surprise" anniversary vacation today.  First stop is Macon GA.  Not exactly the honeymoon suit - but it will get better in the next few days.

There will be one surprised guy in the next couple of days.  Photos to follow after Sunday!

First Bike Race

Jeff has focused on his triathlon skills and raced his first bike race tonight.  We are both thrilled with the results - comparing his age to others.

The personal challenge for Jeff - he felt he rose to the occasion.  The task of getting the new business building built - getting ready to go on a 10 day vacation - he should be very happy.

Running and riding have paid a price this year - but you know what?   We are happy.  He has had to nurse me to health, keep the home front going plus all of the other "stuff" in life.  We are so ready for this vacation!

Love ya honey - we will celebrate our anniversary in style :-)

4th of July Ride

The weather hasn't been the best.  Last year I complained because everything was wilting due to no rain ---- this year I can't keep up with the yard work because of the rain.

Jeff headed out early this morning for his 60+ miles and was home by 11:30.  I was thrilled.  We both got what we wanted - he got his long ride and me - my "honey do" list being taking care.

Much thanks to TB for the long early ride.  Jeff is still laughing over the group of riders that you "blew away" - Those dang young whipper snappers-lol.

Hopefully Friday will dry up.  Dr. said I can try to wear my helmet which means he said it is ok to ride my bike -- YEAH.  This has been 4 very long weeks.

No Worries

Had to use that as our title.  West Milton Triathlon #30 is now in the history books.

Once Again Speedy Feet did a excellent job in holding the race.  Water level was great in the river, weather was perfect - was great to see the Speedy Triathlon Gang.

Won't bore you with details (until I have all my photos) - but no worries (I know I already said that once) but Jeff had a no nothing day - boat glided through the water, his feet knew the route and his bike needed no chain to win the race today.

Waiting to see how he came in overall, but a first in solo with the number of competitors he'll gladly take.

Nursing

Jeff makes an excellent nurse!  He sat for 4 plus hours during my surgery, brought home a dazed me and put me on the couch and waited on me hand-n-foot for the weekend.  I slept fine on the couch, who wouldn't with the drugs I have.  I know it had to kill his back and neck, but Jeff slept on the couch also.

Thank you for taking such great care of me - love you!

Nice way to start the racing season

Little Miami has usually been the first triathlon race of the year, and this year it was no different.  I never know what to expect from Jeff.  Pre-race jitters can attack him and I didn't think it did this year.  He has his typical "head up his rear" the day before, which actually can be a good thing for racing.  That means he is totally focused on the race, but bad for me - he develops his very limited memory.

The ride down to Morgan's was a fairly quiet one.  We both kept our eyes on the black cloud that seemed to following us.  The race was a go when were left home, but typical Ohio weather can play havoc with a triathlon.

The closer we got, we found a beautiful blue sky.  A river that seemed to be at a great level.  After loading his canoe we headed to the start.  Bike setup in "his" place (he has had the same place for years!) we headed down killer hill.  They had changed the route of the trail, added new wood steps but couldn't get rid of the slippery mud.

Jeff started in the second wave, which is always good.  As they said "go" Jeff got his one and only nervous start for the year.  A deep breath and he settled down.  He was determined nobody would beat him down the river, and he was right, nobody did.

He said he was happy with his run, as he said .... every year it gets just a little harder to run.  His transition was very smooth and fast (which made me happy).

I headed up to the finish line not knowing what to expect.  There were a couple of bikes that took off around his time, and you just never know what can/will happen.

I saw a bike heading into the finish line and was very happy to see it was Jeff!  He let out a "hell yes" for me and finished running his bike over the line.

Since I had to photograph Tipp's Graduation, we didn't stick around.  It stinks having to wait for them to post results, but needless to say we were both thrilled wit the results.

Jeff placed 1st out of 88 single competitors (beat the 2nd place by almost 4 minutes) and 7th out of 852 finishers.  Now that deserves a "HELL YES"!

Rumors on the Street?

I heard today (Saturday) that Jeff's wasn't riding - or rumor on the street was Jeff's isn't riding.  Gee, sorry to burst any rumors but, yes Jeff is riding and running.  His training is on schedule and he is happy with his progress.

His racing season has changed.  With the company's new building, Jeff's added responsibilities and training that he is attending (sometimes out of state) it may seem like he isn't - but he is.  I don't blog about his training because in the grand scheme of life - nobody really cares but us.

We are both looking forward to warmer weather and the start of his race season.

First Race of the Year - Oops listed wrong place on the first one

Jeff decided to run in the Frosty 14 trail run this past Saturday.  He hasn't run that distance in a long time but felt like he was ready  Yep he was!  He placed 36th out of 157 with a first place in his age group.  Needless to say, Jeff is really happy with the results.

Guess you could say his season has officially begun.

Date With My Honey

After a long couple of days and no sleep, thanks to a kid(s) who decided bomb threats in Tipp are cool.  We both decided on a no train night and had a date.  Nice to know I have somebody to snuggle up with :-)

Sore Legs

Both of us have sore legs.  Guess that's what happens when you up the training?  Can't say we are on schedule, but ahead of schedule?   :-)

Wonderful dinner out on Saturday night to come home to a long work night.  I decided to opt out of the ride on Sunday but Jeff rode his butt off!  Very proud of you - for many activities today :-)

Saying So Long

To 2012! This year has been a really strange year. But, I know Jeff and I have had a blast the last couple of months :-)!!

A friend sent me the photo from above.  I guess it kind of applies to last year and how we plan to live our life this year.

Looking forward to 2013 and what it has to offer.
