Could Ya Ask For A Better Day?

Boy the wind gods were with me today! Goose was running after work and looking at the forecast, I decided to ride. No dogs, hardly any wind - what more could you ask for! Got stuck behind a couple of school buses (once on a road I love cause it is mostly downhill). I know why didn't I pass it, well I couldn't. Too many kids getting off on this road. Plus I can't ride that fast :)Oh well, still beat my time overall by a couple of minutes.

I think Goose's legs are feeling better today. Water therapy on Wed and a good run tonight, he should be back to "normal" by this weekend. Saturday training will be hard for him this saturday - he has to work and then a birthday party for our nephew (he is 2 weeks younger than AJ)

Hopefully the rain gods will have pity on us and stay away this weekend and we can both get a good ride in on Sunday.

Goose's Dissertation of The Adventure

Goose's take of the Adventure: They pulled, they pulled, they pulled. After Corkscrew I felt nauseous. He (Chuck) pulled, I pulled, he pulled, I pulled and eventually we got back on. Egg made me work hard (for a short time) - he knows what he is doing. Man that was hard. Watermelon was really good. This was harder than 3 State/3 Mountain. Glad I ate afterwards.

Tues: Sorry I would love to stay up but I am exhausted (8:30) - of course he gets up at 5am - so he has earned being tired.

Glad I was there - otherwise I wouldn't have a clue on what happened.

Diesel's Adventure

Honor Thy Cow

Diesel's Adventure - DONE and very successful! Obviously Egg will give the blow by blow on the ride. I missed Egg's best part - giving Crilli hell on a climb (oh wait that is when I was lost). I would have loved to get that on record. The route was complicated for me, the map had route numbers but typically the road signs had the street names. Extremely nice people in the country gave me good directions to get back on course. The guys all rode awesome - only one mechanical problem and Vince not feeling up to par. I am once again impressed by the "team" work and personal accomplishments made by all. I feel extremely lucky to watch them ride.

Goose had a good time, he is out doing yard work! I am surprised he isn't polishing the bling on his bike. It was a long ride for him, but is pleased with his results. Thanks to all who cheered him on - especially at times that his face showed he wanted to quit.

Perfect Sunday

What a beautiful day. Went to Mass this morning and saw Crilli's mom and dad - love talking to them. Shared a little about his race on saturday (but I won't go there).

Goose headed to the damn to run (safely) and had a good turn over on his legs. He is gearing up the Milton's Triathlon. After last year with his staph, he feels he wants to prove himself this year. He tried out his new helmet yesterday and said it works really well (Ezio made mention to sperm - not sure what is up with that!).

I headed out in the Sunday after church roads. Finally that dog on Peters was not out. I don't really watch my computer, but I like having it there if I want to. It wasn't working as far as time but MPH worked fine. I crested my climb faster than ever which was fun. I tend to get distracted when baby farm animals are out (and they were today). I need to stop looking!

Goose and I both worked out in the yard -- and we are both tired. Looks like lots of pasta tonight and an early bedtime for his ride tomorrow. I am looking forward to it (not with the time I have to get up!).

I started the book that wasn't free and it is a much better book. I read a little before I headed out today and it helped with the motivation!

F $% cked Saturday

Well, today started off OK then went to hell in a minute. The big thing today was setting up AJ's double bed - he has outgrown his toddler bed and needed more room. Andrew's Mom and Dad bought new boxspring and mattress and wanted AJ to have their old one which meant a trip to Sidney. Not a big deal. Jeff called when they were in Troy and I met them at the house to help set it up. Well, no metal frame to attach to the headboard. Two choices, buy one or go back to Sidney to get the one attached to their old bed. Andrew decided to go back to Sidney to get it and Jeff came home to ride. Well, Jeff rode a short ride and the frame would not work on AJ's bed (their bed was too old). Parts purchased and Andrew came home. The sheets were labeled Full and when they tried to put them on the label read Twin - so they didn't fit.

I walked this morning and mowed. I wanted to get 1 of my flower beds cleaned out today. Which went ok. I was excited with the mail carrier finally brought my book that I had ordered 2 weeks ago about cycling. I got a "free" book and decided to read it. Well I could skip the first 4 chapters (no I don't plan on training while pregnant). Next chapter wasn't bad - fitting your bike - well I have already decided that I would have Egg and Crilli check my position - Jeff thought they would know if something didn't fit. Next chapter I learned that I could develop "crotchitist". That is why I bought the damn book - to find out how to help that - not for somebody to tell me that would happen. Needless to say, with that I put the book away.

Even though I only have guys to watch ride, I have learned a lot from them. I will learn how to adapt their style to mine.

Lesson learned - save my money - take advice from Jeff and some of the cows and be done with it.

Crilli

Crilli wasn't away on business - he had to leave the area to eat Double Whoppers at Burger King to make weight for the ride on Monday. He isn't kidding anyone and Egg planned his get away.

Better Than Therapy!

Today was another day that looked like it would get away from me. I didn't get home as early as I had hoped and was facing the task of riding with school buses and cars. There is a time frame that I can ride and virtually have the road to myself (which I much prefer). Not riding yesterday and Goose telling me about his venture on the road with the Cows, I decided to hurry and change. Slight headache, lots of "stuff" going through my mind, I headed out. About half way I noticed my headache was gone and the "stuff" had been replaced with enjoyment. And to think people spend all this money and therapists - all they need to do is ride a bike! Bright sunny warm day - what more could one ask for? Cleared my time and MPH without looking, it didn't matter - I was happy and singing to myself (scary thought I know).

I feel bad, Goose was taking his truck to someone tonight to have a started put on and wouldn't get to do anything. He can make up for it this weekend, looks like it will be beautiful the next few days.

GOOSE - DON'T LET ME DOWN

Well, a little late for that statement. Goose made it through Rudy with help and then the tank turned to empty. He called from the Park a little early and said he was done. Said everyone was really riding well and he just couldn't keep up. I am glad he went out - something he needed to do. After an excellent race on Saturday and a great ride on Sunday. he did as well as he could. It is still early in the year for him. I am really glad Egg has the patience with him and keeps the motivation rolling. Goose feels like he let Egg down tonight - but there was just nothing he could do.

I planned on riding this afternoon. I have a window that I will ride by myself, and that window escaped me today with having AJ much later than planned. An emergency with his mommy made them run late - that is OK - extra time with my little guy. I ended up walking 5 miles. There is always tomorrow.

Looking forward to this weekend - looks like the weather will be nice.

BTW - MTHD brought up an interesting fact - cows have utters - bulls have balls --- why are you the Mad Cows?

Monday Cool Down

Well it looks like May will go out chilly. The sun was out, it appeared to be warm, then Noose woke up from her dream (lol). It is May, we should be complaining that the day was a little warm for this time of the year!

After a hard racing and training weekend, Goose decided to get in the water to work out any old age that thought about creeping into his body. After fighting the elements on my bike and walking Sunday, I opted for a nice long walk.

I played the videos for Goose that MTHD had made of GA. We both had a nice chuckle watching the 2nd day video with Vince. I am sure there were other bloopers but that is the only one caught on camera.

Better Than A No Chain Day

We just looked at the results - SECOND ----- YEAH. I know most guys want to win (and so does Goose) - 2nd to Brian Barker with 1 min 46 secs difference is AWESOME. NO CHAIN DAY BABY. Oh wait - now Goose is wide awake again - oh Lord help me :)

Excellent race day. Now looking forward to Milton.

Great Sunday

After an almost no chain race day on Saturday, Goose traveled to Brookville with Egg, Crilli and Big Tim to ride. I am really happy with him riding the distance today after the race on Saturday. I think it helped with his recovery. The specifics will be left to Egg on the ride - but Goose did share a few moments with me ---- 1. Goose did a sprint up and incline with Crilli - when they reached the top, Crilli wanted to know what Goose was doing. His answer was he just wanted to see what his legs could do. First piece of advise today - Crilli said you might want to save some of that - this is a long ride today (thanks for reminding him). About 6 miles from the end, Goose has been washed a few times in hot water and started to fade. Egg just said remember LOM - which Gooose quickly remember - after a few minutes he said he started to feel better (well, yeah you are almost done --lol) - thanks for the motivation from Egg. Goose enjoyed his time today with Egg - as always you provide the pre and post motivation needed.

Goose was thrilled with the ride today. Egg and Crilli took care of the "older guys" today. We are looking forward to the ride on Memorial Day.

Me? I actually read Egg's blog and watched the clip of Lance riding. Headed out to ride - said a few choice words, kept my head down and finished. Was changing clothes when my brother called - heard a part of his message (which he just doesn't get it) so I headed out for a long walk. Better to be tired when I talk to him so there will be no lectures about fitness.

Time to cook dinner - grilled is fired and Goose is starving!

Sidney Triathlon

Good race day for Goose! He left nothing out on the river or road today. Fast water, fun run and lots of wind on the bike. Weather held out for Shawn and Goose. We had to leave as soon as he was done - BIG Birthday Bash today for AJ (hehe). Shawn and Amy stayed for awards - looks Brian Barker (don't know who his partner was) won overall again. Jeff and Shawn won their "division" and not sure overall - they didn't announce it. Hopefully results will be up later tonight so we can look at them.
Excellent Party for AJ - lots of 4 year olds running and jumping around today. Guess he woke up his mom and dad this morning "playing" his new drums. Just remember - I TOLD YOU SO! (to Rebecca and Andrew). He wants to be like his Uncle Egg (oh lord!).

Groove Machine

Egg has tickets to see Rush - ya think you are the only that can groove? NOT ----- Goose wanted to see Ohio Players if they ever performed close --- Well, Aug 29 - Fraze! Ol' Goose will be groovin that night! Won't that be a sight :).

Happy Birthday AJ

He can look so innocent!

This is AJ's rendition of Cows. Happy Birthday!

Living

OK - thanks to Dobo I have been reading FatCyclist.com blog. I ventured there at first out of curiosity. I lost both my parents to cancer, I was the primary caretaker of both. I have also survived a round with that demon. The post from this Sunday was talking about a video they are making about their live together, their friends, etc. Jeff and I walked about our weekend - I can say this probably one of the better Mother's Day that I have had in a long time. We lived this weekend - we both trained but also did somethings out of the ordinary for us (stayed up past 9 pm on Saturday for one).

There are people who just exist each day - I don't want to do that. I want to LIVE each day. I was searching the internet today for answers on female cycling questions. One site referred me to a "Silver Shoe Club" for answers. I might be old, but I refuse to accept that cop out.

Jeff had to fix our water softener before he could ride tonight (we had a nice continuous spray of water out of one of the hoses). But he did ride, and said it was excellent. My "Wind Is My Friend" pills haven't arrived yet so I had an excellent walk today. Jeff's plans are running on Tue and I hope to get my ride in early.

Goose and Noose Spontaneous?

Anyone the knows us, we are very seldom spontaneous with our schedule. Jeff had to work saturday and then had plans to train. I planned on walking and riding early, had a shower in the afternoon and then we both were up to serve communion at Mass saturday night.

Well, somethings got done - Jeff worked, ran and rode a short very intense ride. Me - I walked and then rode. Got home and ready to leave for the shower noticed a message on the phone. Jeff had an emergency to take care of at work, so that meant a trip back to work after Mass. Not exactly on the schedule. I needed to do routine maintenance on his computer so we decided to grab dinner at Treasure Island - yummy fresh fish. During the meal, Jeff asked if we wanted to catch Craig playing with Funky G - OK but only a couple of songs - I was very tired. So we headed to Trolley Stop to surprise Craig for "only a couple of songs". Crilli also showed up for the entertainment (oh and to also watch the band). Damn - didn't know 2 songs would last until 1:30! Those songs were really long! I can't believe that we stayed the entire evening - band sound really good - had a blast watching people dance. AND, Jeff actually gave me the keys to drive home (lesson learned from Egg!)

Sunday morning I went back into the bedroom a couple of times to sure Jeff was still breathing. I won't post what time he finally got up, but I will say he had his breakfast at 11:30 (and he typically eats within 20 minutes of getting up).

We had a good time Saturday night - with the rain today, no riding for me. Jeff went to the Y to get in the water and they were closed. So he is being really nice and cleaning up our bikes.

Funny Friday

Today was a funny day - many things up in the air all day. The weather was one big if on what to do. I talked to afternoon and he decided to get in the water for more time on his legs. My first thought was to walk, but I had done that yesterday. I had an envelope of 2 hours to do something so I decided to ride. Checked the weather and dressed with what I thought was appropriate. Headed out and just reached the airport on Peters when I started to pour down rain. The other day it wasn't a big deal but the temps were warmer. Today I reached a "shady" reached a shady area and my shivering was more than I could handle, so I had to head home. OK, I didn't dress right, but I don't really have the clothes that I need. I can't wear Jeff's, so I guess we will have to break down and get what I need.

Jeff ran in the water and had a good work out. He wanted to get some good rehab for his legs tonight. Plans for him tomorrow after work is a 5 mile run and a hard bike ride. He plans on riding from PECO on Monday and needs to Ramble on Wed for his race next weekend in Sidney.

I hope to ride early and then walk, have duties at a baby shower and Mass tomorrow night.

Weather permitting we will both ride again on Sunday - after all it is my day and we can do what I want (hehe)

Thursday Run in the Rain

Jeff wasn't sure where he was running tonight - water, trails, bike path. With all the rain, Jeff really didn't want to try trails for fear of falling again (Dr Crilli take note - he listened!) He ended up meeting Mark C at the bike path and had a really good run. His ankle and knees really cooperated tonight. Jeff was extremely pleased with tonight, he said he really felt good running. That is great for the upcoming races.

I went out and walked in the beautiful rainy day. Things went well for me also.

Friday will be a cycle day, looks like we might get in one without rain. YEAH

Rain Rain GO AWAY

Goose said he was sick of this weather - even though we really haven't had much bad weather in the last few weeks. He called me on the way to Tipp to see what the weather was. When he called it wasn't bad. In the next 15 minutes the heavens opened up. He decided not to Ramble tonight and get in the water. He had an excellent workout. I feel bad that he didn't get to ride. He was looking forward to the challenge. He needed a little Eggie time tonight :)

Me? I watched the radar this afternoon. It looked like I had a good window of no rain. The wind gusts were much more than I wanted. I finally got tired of watching radar and said to hell with it - I am out of here. I knew I wouldn't ride the full ride when I left, I had my turn around point picked. I hit Peters Rd and was amazed at headwinds. I just put my head down and kept going. So far, no rain. At the turn around point it was a drizzle then somebody decided to turn the rain on full force. When I got home I felt extremely pleased - the wind did not win tonight (well I probably didn't either but I didn't quit). I told Jeff I had a blast, it was me against the wind!

Weather doesn't look for the next few days, we will see what we can go.

Y Monday

Goose decided we needed to get back into the groove of working out. So, we hit the Y on Monday. Normally I would be complaining about how crowded it is. Not today, instead, I will complain that not enough people were working out. Usually we have too much time in between exercises, not today. I almost prayed for someone to be on something we wanted to use just to get a short rest.

Goose had a little problem with his shoulder until he got a few sets in. Everything was "fine" after that. All in all we both had an excellent workout ----- good shoulder and back workout - better to canoe with!

Tuesday will be a walk day for me and a run day for Goose. He will try out his ankle for the first time in a few weeks. Hopefully everything is healing there.

Wednesday he plans to Ramble. I hope to get out early on my little route and should have very little traffic.

Sunday Ride

Egg met Goose at PECO today for a Sunday stroll in the park. Crilli was racing, Dobo had done a Century on Saturday, so it was the dynamic dual. Goose was extremely happy with the ride today , Egg gave compliments on climbing and Egg made him work today - thanks! I think GA really helped Goose, mentally and physically. This is the first time he has ridden in 1 week - he was smart, rested his legs. Saturday he said he FINALLY felt "normal". For mile by mile report, ya gotta read Egg's blog - I am not good at that.

I also headed out alone today. Anyone that really knows me realizes that it is really easy for me to get lost. Made one wrong turn but the miles ended up the same. No wind is still not my friend, BUT I put my head down and stayed with it. When it came to the one climb that I really struggle with, I just remember what Egg told the pros riding up Brasstown, Click, Click. That is what I did and I was at the top before I knew it. Am I pleased with my ride? You betcha skippy!

I really like riding with Jeff, I feel more comfortable on the rode, I don't have to watch for distractions, but today was a 10 day for me.
